Wird als Inhaltsstoffe zur Hautbehandlung verwendet, die in pharmazeutischen Wirkstoffen hinzugefügt werden. Es ist als Cremes, Salbe oder Pasten in 0,1 bis 2 % Stärken erhältlich. Die Begriffe Dithranol und Anthralin werden manchmal synonym verwendet. Dithranol (Anthralin) ist ein Anthrachinon-Derivat mit starker Anti-Psoriasis-Wirkung.
